Who we are
This website, https://sefira.org, is published by SEFIRA, a French non-profit association (association loi 1901), 229 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France. SEFIRA is responsible for the personal data collected on this site. Contact: via our contact form or by post at the address above.
What we collect
This website does not track you and shows no advertising. We only collect the data you choose to send us through the contact form: your name, email address and message.
Why we use it
We use these data only to reply to your message. This is based on our legitimate interest in answering requests sent to us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We never sell your data or use them for marketing.
Spam protection
To protect the contact form against spam, we use hCaptcha, a service of Intuition Machines, Inc. (USA). When you submit the form, hCaptcha receives technical data such as your IP address and browser information, in order to tell humans from robots. This is based on our legitimate interest in protecting the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the United States under the safeguards provided by hCaptcha. See hCaptcha’s privacy policy: https://www.hcaptcha.com/privacy
Comments and user accounts
Comments and public registration are currently closed on this website. If we open them in the future, the following applies:
- Comments: when you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent, to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it (Gravatar privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/). Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to it.
- User accounts: if you have an account, we store the personal information you provide in your profile. You can see, edit or delete it at any time, except your username. Site administrators can also see and edit it. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content, such as videos. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who receives your data
Your messages are read only by the SEFIRA team. They are sent by email through our host, OVH SAS (France), and stored within the European Union.
How long we keep your data
- Contact form messages: up to 3 years after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Comments (if enabled): kept with their metadata until you ask us to delete them, so that we can recognise and approve your follow-up comments automatically.
- User accounts (if any): kept for as long as the account exists.
Cookies
This website only uses the cookies it needs to work. They do not track you, so they do not require your consent.
- Language: a cookie remembers the language you chose.
- Theme: your choice of light or dark theme is stored in your own browser only.
- Comments (if enabled): you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies, so you do not have to type them again. These cookies last one year.
- Login (registered users only): visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to check that your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is deleted when you close the browser. Logging in sets cookies that keep you logged in (two days, or two weeks if you tick “Remember Me”) and save your screen options (one year). Logging out removes the login cookies. Editing or publishing an article sets a cookie with the article’s ID only, which expires after one day.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to their use, and ask for a copy in a portable format. If you have an account or have left comments, you can ask us for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal or security reasons. To exercise your rights, write to us through the contact form. We will reply within one month. If you think your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Hosting
This website is hosted by OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France, which keeps technical server logs under its own policy.
