Summer schools

An international school for students, engineers, researchers and newcomers who want a solid introduction to superconducting electronics and its applications, including recent advances in quantum information and superconducting qubits.

Lectures by leading experts cover:

  • Quantum physics, superconductivity and the Josephson effect
  • Thin-film fabrication of low-Tc and high-Tc superconductors
  • Superconducting digital electronics: circuit design, layout and verification
  • Superconducting qubits and quantum-limited measurements
  • Superconducting neuromorphic circuits
  • SQUIDs: noise, configurations, micro- and nano-SQUIDs, scanning SQUID microscopy
  • Superconductor-based metrology
  • Superconducting detectors: THz detectors, SIS mixers, HEBs, MKIDs, SNSPDs
  • One week, residential, in a setting that encourages exchanges between participants and lecturers.
  • Every participant presents a poster on their work or interests.
  • A pitch session lets each participant introduce their work in a few minutes before the poster sessions.

Courses can be recognised by doctoral schools of European universities. PhD students may request a certificate of attendance to obtain ECTS credits from their own doctoral school.
